Born in Spain, María Dolores Campos, soprano, studied music, violin and singing, at the Professional Conservatory of Music in Valladolid and the Upper Conservatory in San Sebastián, obtaining first-rate diplomas. To complete her musical education she attended advanced courses and master classes in Spain and abroad. María Dolores Campos has specialised in classical spanish songs and is well known for her recitals (togheter with her British pianist Katharine Durran she has released a CD) in Spain and in the UK.
Her other main interest is in ópera. She first sang in the UK as Pamina in The Magic Flute in 1991. Since then she has sung solo parts in The Magic Flute, Le Nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni, La Traviata, L’Elisir d’Amore, Idomeneo, Un Ballo in Maschera, Carmen and the soprano solo in Faure’s Requiem.
She speaks Spanish, her native language, English, French and Italian. She lived and performed in England from 1992 to 1999 when she returned to Spain.
Her repertoire includes: Gilda (Rigoletto), Violetta (La Traviata), Nannetta (Falstaff), Mimi (La Bohème), Musetta (La Bohème), Giorgietta (Il Tavarro), Marzelline (Fidelio), Norina (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Juliette (Romèo et Juliette) and other arias and parts such as Blanche (Dialogue des Carmelites), Adèle (Die Fledermaus) , Manon (Manon), Suor Genovieffa (Suor Angelica), Olimpia (Contes d’Hoffman), La Contesse Adèle (Le Comte Ory).
Biografia Maria-Dolores Campos es una de las sopranos españolas más reconocidas por sus interpretaciones de canciones españolas. Ha cantado ampliamente en el Reino Unido, incluyendo giras por Escocia e Irlanda del norte con la pianista Katharine Durran. Ha dado conciertos en St. Martin-in-the-Fields, el Royal Festival Hall, el Queen’s Hall en Edimburgo, el Reading Hexagon y St. John’s, Smith Square en Londres. Ha dado recitales de canciones y ópera con la pianista del Coven Garden Nina Walker. Entre sus últimas giras destacan las realizadas en Inglaterra, Escocia, Irlanda, Italia, Francia y España (Auditorio de Zaragoza y Fundación Juan March de Madrid con el pianista Carlos Gallardo) Se interesa también por la ópera y su primer papel fue Pamina de La Flauta Mágica. Desde entonces ha cantado Papagena de La Flauta Mágica, Adina de L’Elisir d’Amore, Oscar de Un Ballo in Maschera, Zerlina de Don Giovanni, Ilia de Idomeneo y Micaela de Carmen, entre otras. Ha grabado un CD de canciones españolas con Katharine Durran para el sello discográfico Herald (HAVP CD 184). María Dolores Campos nació en Valladolid en el centro de España, donde estudió canto con Dña. Pilar Pinilla y violín en el Conservatorio Profesional de Música. Hizo los cursos superiores de canto en el Conservatorio Superior de Música de San Sebastián. Siempre obtuvo las máximas calificaciones. En el Reino Unido estudió con Junewyn Jones y luego con Patricia MacMahon y Chris Cowell.
