The new HBO documentary THE PROMISE: THE MAKING OF DARKNESS ON THE EDGE OF TOWN follows Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band for the recording of their fourth album. Grammy- and Emmy-winning filmmaker Thom Zimny has collaborated with Springsteen on this documentary, gaining access to never before seen footage shot from 1976 to 1978, capturing home rehearsals and recording sessions that reveal Springsteens creative process at work. The documentary provides insight into the hard work and endless dedication Bruce Springsteen, his engineers and the E Street Band puts in to create a true rock album classic. The poster for “This Is It” has been revealed. The poster features the King of Pop silhouette, filled in with images from the film. The concert-film documentary will have footage from the rehearsals for the 50 concerts that Michael Jackson was scheduled to at The O2 arena in London before his sudden death.
The sold out concerts were to take place between July 13, 2009 and March 6, 2010. The Jackson estate will get 90% of the profits from the movie and AEG Live, the promoters of the concerts, will get the remaining 10%. “This Is It” will be in theatres on October 28th. Tickets for the two-week presentation will go on sale in most cities beginning on Sunday, September 27th.
